Well the calf has healed (well it seems to have anyway), so I'll be going out on the road shortly.
Otherwise, I've played hockey, trained and done some good gym work (20mins cycling, 15mins cross training and some swimming).

After last week's disruption thanks to a trip to London, training has now been disrupted by a pulled calf muscle! It happened mid-way round my short run route (approx 3.5 miles, going from Hillsborough, out along Rivelin Valley Road, up the mountainous Hagg Hill, through Walkley to and then down Rivelin Bank and back to Hillsborough). The irony is that I pulled the muscle whilst posting my second fastest time for this route - 23mins 53secs!
Since the calf strain, I've only managed a couple of trips to the gym to do mainly upper body strength and core stability work followed by a gentle swim and spa, along with a hockey match on Saturday. Better to keep things ticking along though eh?

Sorry for the lack of any updates recently, but I was down in London most of last week and over the weekend. I still managed to squeeze in three decent stints in the various Virgin gyms of SW London (Streatham, Merton Abbey and Clapham to be precise)!
Need to start picking up the pace a bit now though!!

First things first, THANK YOU to those who have already sponsored me. It's great to see some 'points on the board' as they say. For those of you who haven't got round to it yet, it is really easy to do - just visit http://www.justgiving.com/2009kinabalu and donate on-line. Of course, you could always sponsor me off-line if you prefer. Just send me an email telling me how much you pledge, or you could send me a cheque - whatever is easiest.
I've also been so pleased and impressed by the support from the sports clubs I've contacted. I've just had a couple more donations of prizes:
A signed cricket bat from Surrey CCC
A signed gift from Warwickshire CCC from their Championship winning side
The training has picked up pace again, now that the cold seems to have subsided. I spent an hour in the gym yesterday with former European, British and Commonwealth boxing champion, now personal trainer, Herol 'Bomber' Graham pushing me on. About 25 mins of intense skipping was followed by about the same length of bag work, before finishing with some abs and some stretching. Very tiring stuff, but all good.

I've just had some more donations from sports clubs:
- complimentary tickets to a Derby County match
- a signed Middlesborough FC shirt/pennant
Thanks very much to them!

Disaster!
Man flu (aka a slight sniffle) has struck and impacted on training. You have to have your rest days anyway!

Gym last night for a 10km cycle, spot of weight training, climbing and swimming. Nothing too intense, but every little helps!

I've contacted all Premier League and Championship football clubs, all Premiership and Super League rugby clubs, all cricket clubs and a few WRC and F1 teams to see if they can donate anything to be raffled off.
Only a small response so far, but great offers of:
- tickets to a match from Sheffield United FC
- a signed West Brom shirt
- tickets to a Derbyshire Cricket Club testimonial dinner
Fingers crossed for some more.....
